Space4Climate COP26 Champions and UK experts

19 August, 2021  |  Reading time: 2 minutes

For media interviews, comment and analysis

Space4Climate has developed a pool of COP26 Champions drawn from across our member organisations. They are at the forefront of Earth observation climate data, climate science and technology across the COP26 themes in the UK and around the world and will be showcasing their case studies in the Blue Zone and in the Green Zone in person, digitally and online.

Each Champion has their own area of earth observation expertise – ranging from renewable energy transitioning for small island developing states, to ice-ocean interaction, Essential Climate Variable datasets (ECVs) from ESA’s Climate Change Initiative, verifying climate data, the uses of satellite imagery, impact of climate change on phytoplankton in oceans and UK involvement in upcoming climate satellite missions and many more.

They represent organisations as diverse as the British Antarctic Survey, to CGI, to start-ups such as Earth Blox.

Our established UK experts have been chosen for their ability to communicate complex climate science with enthusiasm and in plain language. They are available for media interviews on COP26 themes and topics, key announcements made, behind the science insights and breaking news.

Space4Climate can  facilitate background briefings on UK Earth observation and climate data from space for journalists, broadcasters and media organisations.

We have also included young voices, drawn from the UK’s national student space society – UKSEDS.  who will be supporting our activities and events in person and online.
