Climate services

As a group we are able to offer end-to-end capability from design, manufacture and satellite launch to data analytics and integration of climate information into decision support services.

As defined by the Global Framework for Climate Services: “Climate services provide climate information to help individuals and organisations make climate smart decisions… They equip decision-makers in climate-sensitive sectors with better information to help society adapt to climate variability and change.”

UK analysis of data from the Japanese GOSAT satellite over many years is revealing detailed regional patterns in methane emissions. Predictions of future climate change need to understand and model global distributions of greenhouse gases, and the different processes that control their behaviour.

The Space4Climate community has worked with a leading peatland scientist to create an online observatory using data from space to monitor peatlands in the UK. 

Expertise supporting climate adaptation innovations for global food security, including the new Essential Agricultural Variables to be announced in the next year.
